Innovation

Kleemann emphasizes on innovation. For this reason it has created a specific department, which deals with operations that are beyond the standard activities, which are fulfilled from the Research and Development Department. Its' research operation acts supportively and additionally to the proceedings of the R&D department and its' main goal is to help Kleemann to surpass the competitor companies in innovative products and services.

The activities of the department are performed in order to support the interests of the company, thus the staffing of the department gives the opportunity of self-sufficient operation (study - design). The issued studies are up to a certain extend: pre-study and expediency study.

Some of the responsibilities of the Innovation Department are described below:

• Research for novel products, materials and services, ideas and substantiated studies for new products, materials and services.
• Research and supervision of the market and the competition, regarding the offered products and services.
• Supervision of the research trends in issues that are tangible with the objectives of the company.
• Execution, superintendence and evaluation of measurements of the motion characteristics (speed, deceleration, noise, vibrations etc.), of the dynamic performance of the lift and of its’ safety features.
• Copyright register through patent certificates and supervision of the relative legislation. Search and evaluation of the patent certificates of the competition.
• Study and elaboration of the standards and legislation, which are relative to the activities of the company (European lift directive 95/16 EK, machine directive 98/37 EK, European standards (e.g EN81.1-2) and draft standards, other countries normal – national standards.
• Interpretation and briefing of the Management and the Board of Directors related with the new standards and regulations regarding the amendments or emerging tendencies in issues such as copyrighting, standards, regulations etc.
• Information, training and clarification on all the issues of lift legislations and standards to employees and customers of the company.
• Product certifications according to the European directives.
• Representation of the Kleemann group to European organizations related to lifts. Attempt to intervene through these organizations to the related E.U comities.
• Support in exploiting the European initiatives, which have to do with research, aiming its’ self-funding to the extend that this is achievable.
• Scientific papers regarding technological issues that are considered to be releasable (i.e., copyright has been secured), which will promote the prestige and the status of the company in the lift world.
